Yo Guys, this is the bit of news that everyone has been waiting for.......
Newark Showground has served us well, but over the last 12 months various sites were looked at for their suitability of hosting the show, the selected venue won hands down.
So, after looking at 9 sites across the UK, The British Koi Keepers Society is proud to announce that the 2010 National Koi Show will be held at Stafford Show ground, Bingley Hall on the 26th and 27th of June.
So as the BKKS celebrates its 40th birthday, the ‘35th National Show’, along with it's new show management team, moves to a new ‘indoor’ venue. Visit www.staffscountyshowground.co.uk for a tour of the site.
The show will have a fresh new look, and enables us to try out plenty of new ideas that lend themselves to the indoor venue.
During last summer people on the show committee visited many koi shows, and noted the best ideas from each show, some of these will now be used in some form at ’The National’.
We are looking into new vats that are not only larger in diameter to show off the koi better, but they will also be safer for the koi. The other benefit to larger vats is that exhibitors will also be able to show more, larger koi, in one vat, with the increase in points allowance, and due to the extra space, we may even increase the number of exhibitor’s vats to the magic 100 figure.
Due to your feedback we plan to offer entertainment for all the family, and if one of your party isn't interested in the koi on display, they can always pop in to the Rock and Gem show that will be being held at the same time at this location.
Bingley Hall boasts a balcony covering 3 sides of the hall with one side being dedicated to a restaurant and bar, so you can relax, eat and drink, whilst looking down over the show vats.
No more burger vans, and dodgy donuts !!
There will be lectures running constantly throughout the weekend, to cater for every level in the hobby, and the dinner dance will also be held at the show ground in The Ingestre Suite. On the evening of the dinner dance all the Champions will be announced.
We plan to invite all the koi clubs across the country to come along and take up a small stall each at the show, club secretaries will be contacted nearer the time about this offer.
So, major changes for ‘The National’, a bold move, but a well needed one.
I think we all agree, It's time for positive change !!
Time for a new fresh look.
Time for a new enjoyable National show that we all want.
More information will be posted in time, as things develop.
If you want to be part of ‘The National show’ and help in the running of it, then feel free to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , it’s great to muck in and be part of the team and for more information about what to expect, take a look at 'The Showmans Diary' in the National Show section of the site.
I hope the wait has been worth it, we all knew it was the worst kept secret, but until we were 100% sure about Stafford we couldn’t announce anything.
Regards,
Martin Barnett [Mushio]
BKKS National Show Chairman.
