South Hants
We meet at All Saints Church Hall, Hambledon Road, Denmead, on the second Wednesday of each month, at 8pm, when we normally have a guest speaker on a Koi related topic. At these Club Nights members are able to purchase good quality food and other essential goods at discounted prices from our Section Shop. Members find that the considerable savings on shop prices more than equal the membership fee within a very short time of joining. Also available on Club Nights is a library of Koi videos, magazines, books, etc., together with a selection of Koi Health Group publications. These are all for loan or hire at £1 per item per month from the Equipment Officers Sue & Barry Moorman. In addition, many items of equipment are available for short term hire to members at modest rates. These include water meter, microscopes, vats etc. We have a break for refreshments at around 9pm, when Club Raffle tickets will also be on sale. These are £1 each and the first prize is £25 cash or a prize to the value thereof. You can also join the growing band of National Lottery syndicate supporters. £1 will buy one share in the syndicate for the 4 or 5 Saturday draws between Club Nights. The Club will keep any £10 prizes and £10 or 5% of any other prizes, whichever is the greatest. The remaining prize money to be divided equally per £1 share. The membership fee, as well as enabling us to engage professional speakers from the Koi world, also entitles members to a monthly magazine. This magazine contains articles submitted by members and professionals and also keeps members up to date with forthcoming Section events, etc. It is posted to members on the weekend prior to Club Night. Richard Anders, who is the Editor of the magazine, is always in need of "copy", so any contributions, however small, will be gratefully received. In addition to our very comprehensive club nights with specialist quest speakers, there is a host of other activities to keep the dedicated Koi hobbyists, those new to Koi (or just ponds) and members who just enjoy the social side, occupied throughout the year. Our numerous activities include: · Our annual ‘Open’ Koi Show (see details on this site) · Members pond open-days · Coach trips to other Sections · Visits to international Koi shows (Germany this year) and shows in this country. · Short Koi related club holiday coach trips with excellent accommodation and social atmosphere (3 days ‘up-north’ this year) · A range of ‘Beginners Classes’ to cover topics such as pond construction & maintenance, filtration, buying & stocking fish and Koi health & welfare. · Annual auction of Koi & related dry goods. · Social events including dances, meals & barbecues. New members are always warmly welcomed and if you are not too sure whether to join us, pick up a ‘phone and give our Membership Secretary a call, or send an email to any of the officers and Committee Members mentioned in this web site. Alternatively, you are welcome to just ‘drop-in’ to any of our Club Night meetings on the 2nd. Wednesday of each month, just to see ‘what’s it all about’.
