This is the first in a series of guides on how to use the website. This will talk you through uploading a picture into your own gallery, and subsequently using this picture in a forum, or any other post.
Clicking on the picture will take you through to the gallery, where you can view each step of the process in turn. There are 13 steps (so much for the 12 step program) and I've tried to be as thorough as possible for the non-technical amongst you!
One further piece of background: Many forum systems allow you to upload pictures directly into posts - while this may be easier to grasp for the newcomer it is a lot more inefficient in the long run. Many of the larger forums now insist on loading photos into external galleries and posting in links. This takes the middle ground - photos are uploaded into a gallery software linked to the site and can then be directly inserted into any post. The users photos are also groped together, so if you follow a link to see a photo of a fish, you may also get to see photos of the pond it lives in, and maybe the filter system as well. By people providing good captions and descriptions for their photos it also permits matching images to be retrieved quickly - so if you look at a Kohaku
you can quickly jump to other Kohakus to compare it against for exmaple. This does provide a much richer experience for all concerned in the long run.
