JSC News - May 2012

On the 24 & 25th March the Judging Standards Committee met for their Spring Meeting. This meeting coincides with our annual Training Seminar which is not only there for existing trainees but serves as an induction exam for any member wishing to become a judge. This year we received an application from Gary Hazely a member of the Ireland Section. Although Gary was well versed in show etiquette he told us afterwards that he no idea about what to expect and found the going tough at times. However, he attained the required pass mark and was duly informed of his success a few weeks later. Gary joins the three other trainees already in the system who all made the grade too. Well done one and all. FYI Gary will get his baptism of fire at the Worthing Show on the 2nd & 3rd June.

EGM Outcome

The full order of business was dealt with in good spirits yesterday. There was only one modification to the items on the Agenda. The Council Proposal to Co-opt Lin Murray into the Minutes Secretary role was modified with a proposal from the floor to formally elect the role. This modification was accepted by Lin Murray, therefor by Council and then accepted unanimously by those members present. This adds 1 more voting member to Council bringing the total to 8.( 7 voting plus a Chairman's casting vote).

BKKS – The Current Position

At the AGM held on Sunday 11th March the society found itself in a position whereby it had no nominations or volunteers for the position of Treasurer that fell within the current operating guidelines of the society, this role, as held by Lin Murray for the past 4 years, is one of the 3 vital Officer role and must be filled for the BKKS to continuing functioning as a society.

Please note that Lin has committed to providing a full handover and to making herself available to answer questions/provide advice indefinitely, this is something that as General Secretary I am very grateful for.

As this position has not been filled the society must move to holding an EGM, this meeting will take place on the 15th of April at Drayton Leisure Golf Centre, Banbury, Oxon, OX17 1HJ at 1pm a full schedule of agenda items will be made available as per the society rules at our earliest convenience.

Due to this position, and until it is rectified by the appointment of a treasurer, the society at this time cannot take any new membership applications.

Please do not under estimate the position the society finds itself in today, the society needs the support of its membership to continue.
