Help Build The National Show
Now that the 2009 show is over, our attentions turn to the staging of the 2010 National show, if you'd like to help bring this show to fruition, then now is your chance to volunteer your services for next year.
New blood is needed to help keep this show going, it cant carry on with the same folk year in, year out and if you're interested, you could even take up a show committee position.
Work starts 6 months before the show, with organising equipment , services, dealers etc. then one week before the show we need you to come along to the show ground and help assemble the show.
Its hard work and we work long hours, but, you will get free food and accommodation for the time you stay and in the evenings we have a great time in the pub next to the hotel and just laugh all night.
You meet some really nice folk, with one aim, to promote this wonderful hobby.
Over the show weekend you get really involved with the smooth running of the event with the added benefit of seeing some of the best koi outside of Japan.
After the event workers are given gifts, and we hold a prize draw amongst ourselves and the prize is normally pond equipment valued at several hundreds of pounds.
The Monday after the show we need workers to help dismantle the equipment, this is normally done very quickly - approx 8 hours - extra gifts are given to these workers.
Its a rewarding job, with Friday when the koi arrive being the hi-light for me, it makes it all worth while. I also show my koi as well, which adds to the buzz you get from being present.
