Japan Disaster Appeal
The earthquake and following tsunami that has hit Japan in recent days needs no introduction, we're all perfectly aware of how much damage has been done and how the people are suffering from shortages of food, clothing, heating and other essential items in the areas that have been worst hit by the disaster.
Mark Gardner, who is well know to many personally and through his websites that include Niigata Nishikigoi (www.niigata-nishikigoi.com) where he keeps us all upto date on the day to day goings on in the birthplace of Koi, has, after discussions with breeders in the area, set up a facility to take donations on his website.
Niigata is only around 200km from the worst hit area and has shops full of the vital supplies that are needed and so scarce in the disaster zone, so, with your support Mark is planning to purchase as many blankets, bottles of water, noodles etc that he can lay his hands on and drive them to where they are directly needed himself thus cutting out the middle men that take a cut at every turn and ensuring that all the money donated is put to use quickly and efficiently.
The fund has already had some fantastic donations made but no matter what you feel you can donate, whether it be £1 or £100, it would also be a great help to the country we all thank for the Koi in our ponds!
