Site Access Issues - Problem(s) Identified

Anybody who is having problems accessing the website, it seems basically that the database has transposed many rows so you are not being able to access your own information; but a combination of other peoples.

I can't fix this until I have a chance to get at the database later; I will probably need to re-validate everyones information against that held from the backups on the old site.

As an interim measure, I have had to suspend all user accounts. This means no log-ins and no posting. New users also cannot sign up. I stress this is only temporary, I hope I can resolve this later.

I think I have an idea how this could have occured and if so it's a one off due to making the site live and should be easy, if long winded, to resolve. Worst case scenario is have to delete and rebuild all the account - in which case the posts on the forum will have to be cleared out, but I hope it will not come to that.

Let me apologise once again for these problems. I will resolve these as soon as I possibly can, and post back here when this is done.

Will look into the Gallery

as there are some things adrift. Probably just a path or setting needs changing.

warnings at top of this page .....

does anyone other than me get a whole list of warnings at the top of the page?

I know Gareth is aware of my problem, but just curious if others have it? or is it just me?

Chris (as usual IMHO)

Solve the problem, dont waste energy finding who's to blame

double line spacing

Depends on the editor and the input format used. It converts any line break into a < br > < p > pairing. Depeneding on where the text comes from (e.g. copied and pasted from Word) there may be other nasties as well that are processed out.

This is a pain.

Admittedly, it's very web2.0 with lots of whitespace on the page, but it's not intended. It's been added to the list.

Latest Status

I've now migrated all of the user accounts over from the old site - Members should have been here but all non-society members have been migrated as well (sorry for the delay, but I did not have the time to bring everything across in one go). Login should be OK and work as on the old-site; if not please let me know. Everything seems to have gone OK into the database this time so I think whatever the issues were, I've got them licked. But there are plenty more out there, I'm sure.

I need to do some behind the scenes stuff next; but I will start on migrating articles over the weekend.
