When convenient Gareth can we have the show sizes on the website with the points scoring system for vats for this years show.
I know your list is most probably getting bigger by the day of things to do, but can we add this one as well please?
Thank you !
Graham

Thanks Gareth
I shall look forward to final version being posted, whenever that may be.

The Show Rules & Guidelines for 2008 have now been ratified by Council. These rules are to be classed as an upgrade to the 2007 Rules in preparation of major changes required by the AWB (Animal Welfare Bill).
For info, and until I can put the full version on the site, I have taken an extract from them to answer your question.
APPENDIX E
RECOMMENDED KOI STOCKING LEVELS IN SHOW VATS
1. The following formula should be used as guidelines for shows such as the BKKS National Show and all BKKS Section Open Shows that are using the BKKS size classifications as at Appendix B. This points system is based on the volume of the Koi, so that at the lower sizes a larger number of small Koi can be entered but at the upper end the number of large Koi is restricted.
Size 1 0.5 Points
Size 2 1 Point
Size 3 2 Points
Size 4 4 Points
Size 5 7 Points
Size 6 9 Points
Size 7 11 Points
Size 8 13 Points
The recommended number of points for Koi in show vats is shown below, however local conditions will vary and Show Committees may determine alternative target stocking levels with guidance from the HSC Official to suit their local pH and water changing abilities etc.
2.5 metre round vat up to 30 Points
2 metre round vat up to 19 Points
1.5 metre round vat up to 11 Points
Other size show vats should be in proportion to above.
Is this what you were after?
Sue
Sue I appreciate that, thank you.
Can I just confirm that actual sizes have not changed apart from Size 7 is now from 750mm - 850mm and size 8 is 850mm and above ?
But again thanks for details

With the size of 7 & 8 koi showing, can someone confirm please which size a GC can come from now?
Or is it not as black and white as that.
Regards

Graham, IMHO, and others may know better, the GC is the best koi at the show - not potentially the best - but the best koi on display, at the show, at the time of judging. The best koi is not necessarily the largest or one of the largest koi. There is an award for the largest - irrespective of quality - The Jumbo Prize.
I would expect the GC to come from one of the shows various award classes champion (if that makes sense).
Chris (as usual IMHO)

Solve the problem, dont waste energy finding who's to blame
yes you are correct with the sizes but we are using cm not mm. Bern would be the best person to answer the question about GC. However, GC is chosen before the classes are judged as GC is not included in any of the judging from that point on. I would think, and Bern can confirm this, that the GC would come from size 6 upwards but that is not to say that it couldnt come from a smaller size but I would think it would need to be something spectacular to beat one of the bigger fish. My thoughts and not those of a BKKS judge.
Sue
Grand Champion can technically come from any size or variety. As some varieties are easier to produce than others they will have little impact on this award. The recognised hardest varieties to produce are kohaku
- sanke
- showa
. This is why the grand champion nearly always come from these which are referred to as 'go - sanke'. Likewise the G/C can come from any size BUT a size 1 koi might turn out good but a size 6/7/8 already has acheived excellence and therefore will produce more G/C's then any other size.
I was surprised at this years AGM to hear that we had just cross petitioned in a court case involving Shingoi. The point I would like to highlight is that thanks to the good services of Annette (koiette) who not only researched but presented the society case in court (against a barrister no mean feat) achieving a break even result. Anyone who knows anything about court costs i.e. Barristers/solicitors/research costs will appreciate not only the great work done in time and effort but the huge savings made to the society which will be a four figure sum minimum. So if I may be permitted to say thankyou very much, it is most appreciated. Gary
Thank you for your input all, it has been a great help.
