Statement re: Society Chairman
On 25th June our Chairman, Bob Robson contacted the General Secretary to advise of his resignation and the reason for this, and shortly after advised the membership of his decision on the BKKS forum.
Bob informed us that he had received a series of anonymous phone calls, threatening himself and his family over his involvement with the BKKS Committee. He advised that he had contacted the Police, and there was an ongoing investigation into the matter. Having discussed the matter with Bob it was agreed that it would be inappropriate for the BKKS Committee to respond with any details of the situation until such times as we had been able to speak with the Police and obtain their advice, which Bob would arrange.
The Committee have today been advised by Bob that at this time the Police are taking no further action, something we find not only extremely disappointing but also unacceptable. On behalf of the Society we therefore intend to contact the Police to try and ensure the matter is fully investigated, something we will of course assist with in any way possible.
We find it incredible that such a deplorable situation can arise and of course take this matter very seriously. As soon as we are able to liaise directly with the Police we hope to obtain and publish contact details, so that anyone who may have information that may assist them will be able to pass this on.
Bob has the full support of the BKKS Committee (and I hope the membership) in his understandable decision to resign, and we would like to take the opportunity to thank him wholeheartedly for his time spent as Chairman of the BKKS.
